This is a simple dish, but flavorful.
Mushrooms are considered a healthy food with no or minimum calories. A mushroom (or toadstool) is the fleshy, fruit body of a fungus, typically produced above ground on soil. Always check expiry of mushrooms. Mushrooms are extremely porous and soak up water like a sponge. Because they are mostly water, never soak fresh mushrooms. Mushrooms should be cooked before cosuming.
1) I used button mushrooms. Can use any available mushrooms.
2) Mushrooms release a lot of water while cooking. So do not keep mushrooms soaked in water. I usually scrub with all purpose flour and then wash thoroughly.
3) Always check expiry date of mushrooms before buying.
Quantity | Name |
---|---|
300 Gm.s | Button mushrooms quartered |
1 Tbsp. | Garlic,chopped fine |
2 Tsp. | Butter (saltless) |
2 Tsp. | Olive oil |

1) Heat olive oil and butter together. Butter alone will cause it to burn.
2) Add garlic, salt & mushroom & saute well till mushroom is cooked. Mushroom will ooze out some water. So no need to add additional water.
3) After mushroom is cooked, add chilli flakes and oregano. Saute and remove from fire.
Can be served with bread toast or as a side with noodles, fried rice etc.
