Description

Pazham nirachathu or stuffed banana is a speciality among the muslim community in Malapuram region. This is a real lip smacking snack which is also filling.

Note

1) Kerala banana known as nendran, which is used for steaming is used in this recipe. Bananas should be just ripe. Over ripe bananas will make the dish mushy.

1  CupCoconut,grated
4  Tsp.Sugar
0.5  Tsp.Cardamom powder
4  Tbsp.Cashew pieces
2  Tbsp.Raisins
0.5  CupGhee
3  Tbsp.Flour (all purpose flour)

Method

1) In a bowl, add the grated coconut, sugar, cardamom powder, chopped cashews and raisins. Combine everything well.
2) Make a slit in the banana vertically, making sure that it does not part the banana into two pieces.
3) Stuff the banana with coconut mixture.
4) Add little water to flour and make a paste. 5) Cover the slit of the banana with the flour paste so that the filling does not come out.
6) In a pan, heat ghee and place the stuffed banana, with the stuffed side down.
7) Shallow fry the bananas till it becomes golden brown.
8) Remove .

Serving Suggestions

Serve, preferably warm. Can be served whole or cut into pieces.
