Description

This can be called a marble cake in a zebra striped pattern. Once cut, the cake looks very pretty.

Note

1) Do add only boiling hot water to cocoa powder.
2) If you want an intense chocolate flavor, add few pieces of chocolate to cocoa batter.

0.25  Tsp.Baking soda
150  Gms.Butter,unsalted, softened
250  Gms.Castor /powdered sugar
1  PinchSalt
3  Tbsp.Cocoa powder
2  Tbsp.Boiling water
2  Tbsp.Sugar
4  No.sEggs
1.5  Tsp.Vanila essence
3  Tbsp.Milk

Method

1) Mix cocoa powder with hot water. Cold water will not dissolve cocoa. Add baking soda and 2 tbsp. sugar to this. Mix well. ther should not be any lumps. keep aside.
2) In another bowl sieve flour and baking powder & sieve thrice.
3) Mix butter with a pinch of salt.
4) Add powdered sugar. Beat to a smooth consistency.
5) Add eggs one by one, beating well in between. Add 1 tsp. maida to this in between to prevent curdling. Beat till light and creamy.
6) Add in vanilla essence and mix well.
7) Now fold in maida little at a time.
8) If the batter is too thick, add milk little by little mixing well, but softly.
9) Divide the batter to 2.
10) To 1 portion, add the cocoa mix. Mix well gently.
11) In a prepared 8 inch cake tin, add 1 scoop, white batter. Next to it add 1 scoop cocoa batter. Continue adding the batters alternately, till the whole batter is used up. Tap tin well.
12) Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180 degree C for 30 to 35 minutes. Start checking after 25 minutes. If a tooth pick or skewer inserted to the middle of the cake comes out clean, its done.

Serve at room temperature.
