Description

These fritters are a favorite with potato lovers and is a common street food.

Note

1) The potato i used weighed around 130 gms.

Marination
0.5  Tsp.Chilli powder
1  PinchTurmeric powder
1  PinchSalt

Method

1) Cut the top and tail piece of potato. Peel and slice thinly.Add poatatoes to boiling water. Immediately switch off fire. Let it stand for 5 minutes. Drain and pat potatoes to remove moisture with a towel. Marinate with all marination ingredients.
2) For batter, mix gram flour, rice flour, carrom, chilli powder, baking soda, if using, chaat masala and 1 tbsp of hot oil.
3) Add water little by little, mixing without lumps.
4) Add salt after tasting batter as chaat masala has salt.
5) Heat oil to fry.
6) Dip each slice of potato in batter and fry in oil, till crisp. Do not fry on high heat, fry on medium heat or potatoes will remain raw.
7) Remove to kitchen towels when done.
8) Serve hot.

Serving Suggestions

Serve hot with tomato ketchup and green chutney.
