This is a common chutney served with idlis and dosas in Tamilnadu.

1 Tsp. | Tamarind paste | |
Tempering | ||
2 Tsp. | Oil | |
1 Tsp. | Mustard | |
1 Pinch | Black gram dal | |
1 No. | Whole red chillies broken to 2 pieces | |
1 Sprig | Curry leaves |
1) Heat oil for frying.
2) Add onion, green chillies, ginger and garlic and fry lightly till onion is transparent.
3) Add corriander leaves and fry till wilted.
4) Add tamarind paste to corriander.
5) After it cools, grind to a paste using as much water as you need.
Tempering:-
1) Heat oil.
2) Splutter mustard.
3) Add black gram dal, curry leaves and whole red chilly.
4) When black gram dal is fried, pour over chutney.
