Description

Hot chocolate is different from hot cocoa. In hot chocolater, real chocolate is used, whereas in hot cocoa, cocoa powder is used. There are different variations of hot chocolate. Thinner variation of hot chocolate is served in USA, whereas in Europe a thicker version is used. European version is creamy and thick, which can be scooped with a spoon.

Note

1) Addition of a little coffee, perks up the taste for coffee lovers.
2) Addition of 1 tbsp. of dark rum will warm the body during winters.

3) Usually hot chocolate is served in demitasse or espresso cup. Demitasse is a half cup usually used to serve strong black coffee after dinner or lunch.
4) You can use either sweet, bitter or semi sweet chocolate, but do not forget that we are not adding any additional sugar.
5) Spice powders can be substituted with vanilla extract. Quantity of vanilla can be decided according to one's taste.
6) The cream we have used here is dairy whipping cream.

60  Gms.Chocolate (70 % cocoa solids)
0.5  Tsp.Coffee, instant (optional)
1  PinchNutmeg grated
1  PinchCinnamon powder
0.25  CupWhipping cream (dairy)
1  Tbsp.Sugar

Method

1) Cut chocolate into small pieces.
2) Boil milk.
3) Add instant coffee to chocolate. Pour milk over this. Keep aside to let chocolate melt.
4) Whisk cream with sugar till it forms peaks.
5) Add nutmeg and cinnamon to milk and mix well.
6) Add cream on top of chocolate before serving.

Serving Suggestions

Serve warm.
