Description

This is a common street food in Kerala. Street food is tastier cheap option, provided food is made in hygeinic conditions.
The pea is a green, pod-shaped vegetable, grown in cool climates. Each pod contains several peas. Although it is botanically a fruit it is treated as a vegetable in cooking. Green peas also contain a unique assortment of health-protective phytonutrients. One of these phytonutrients—a polyphenol called coumestrol--has recently come to the forefront of research with respect to stomach cancer protection. Green peas are also an environmentally friendly food. Agricultural research has shown that pea crops can provide the soil with important benefits.

Note

1) Do not over cook eggs. It should be soft & creamy.
2) Here dried green peas is used as this dish does not taste good with fresh green peas.
3) If not soaked, green peas will require longer time to cook. If not soaked over night, add green peas to boiling water & keep covered for 1 hour.

  Servings 

Method

1) Boil soaked green peaswith half cup water in a cooker for 2 whistles & release pressure slowly by lifting the weight of the cooker slowly.Or keep the cooker under running water for a few seconds to release pressure. It will be just cooked. If you require more softer green peas, cook for another whistle. If cooked for more than 2 whistles, then the skin of green peas will slightly come out.
2) Heat coconut oil.
3) Fry onions till golden brown.
4) Add green chillies.
5) Add pepper powder & garam masala powder.
6) Add tomatoes & cook till done.
7) Add salt to taste.
8) Then add green peas. Mix well.
TO scramble eggs:-
1) Beat eggs with onion, green chillies & salt & pepper powder.
2) In a pan, add oil.
3) Add egg mix. Scramble & cook till just done. over cooking will make eggs tough.
4) Add eggs to green peas masala & mix well.
5) Garnish with corrinader leaves.

Serving Suggestions

Serve as a snack with drinks or as a side dish with rice.
