Sprouts are the germinated seeds which are either eaten raw or cooked. Sprouts are generaly considered healthy.

1) Wash green gram well.
2) Soak in water for 8 hours or overnight.
3) Next day, drain water and place the gram in a wet muslin or cotton cloth which is porous. Tie the ends of the cloth loosely with a rubber band.
4) After a few hours when the cloth is dry just dip it lightly (with green gram) in water and keep aside.
5) Continue the process for about 24 hours and you will have pretty good length of sprouts.
6) Then untie cloth and if not using immediately, store sprouts in the fridge for another day or two.
Eat as it is or add to salads.
