The famous dish of Britain.Fish is battered and fried. Usually Atlantic cod or haddock fish is used. It is served with deep-fried potato chips. It is a common take-away food. A common side dish with fish is mushy peas.
The shops selling fish and chips are known as chippy or chipper.
1) Using soda or beer makes the fish real crispy.
2) I used frozen ready to fry potato chips. Fried it according to packet instructions.
3) Beer does not retain its alcoholic effect after cookin, frying or baking.

Mushy peas | ||
300 Gms. | Green peas, shelled | |
1 Tbsp. | Oil | |
2 Tsp. | Lemon juice | |
2 Tsp. | Pepper powder |
For Mushy Peas:-
1) Cook peas in boiling water till well cooked.
2) Drain peas from water.
3) Crush peas lightly with the back of a spoon.
4) Add oil, salt, pepper powder and lime juice to peas. Mix well.
5) Keep warm till fish and chips are fried.
For Fish:-
1) Cut fish into thin boneless slices.
2) Mix together flour and salt. Pour beer or soda little by little, mixing well with a wire whisk, avoiding lumps. The batter should have a smooth consistency.
3) Now add yeast and mix well. Leave the batter in a warm place for about 40 minutes.
4) Heat oil to deep fry fish.
5) Dip fish slice in batter. Add to hot oil. Fry till golden brown.
6) Remove and drain on paper napkins.
Serve fish hot with fries/ chips and peas as a whole meal.
