Description

This sandwich replicates the famous Grilled sandwich of mumbai.
A sandwich is made by placing different kinds of foods between two pieces of bread. it can be either veg or non veg. This snack of bread is thought to have been made first for the Earl of Sandwich, who was engrossed in playing cards and wanted to eat something with one hand without disturbing his card game. So he asked his valet to get him 2 pieces of bread with meat tucked in between. Thats how sandwich originated.
One ingredient that gives zing to snacks, tandoori dishes etc. is chaat masala. Chaat masala is a spice blend consisting of black salt, chilli powder, cumin seeds and dry mango powder. There are as many recipes for chaat masala as there are households in India. Chaat masala is available in supermarkets.

Note

1) This is a triple decker sandwich, with 4 slices of bread and 3 types of filling. You can change it into double decker by using 3 slices of bread and 2 types of veggies for filling. Also any other veggies like tomato etc. can be used according to ones preference .
2) This was made on an iron grill plate used on stove top. You can also use electric grill plate. Also if a grill plate is not available, this can be toasted in any pan. In that case the grill marks would be absent.
3) I used whole wheat bread. You can also use white bread.
4) Applying butter liberally on the top most and bottom slice will give a nice golden color and grill marks. Also makes the bread crunchy.
