Description

Tortillas- pronounced as tor-ti-yas are thin and round breads like indian chappatis. They are filled with different fillings to get Quesadillas, Chimichangas, Fajitas, Burritos, etc.

Note

1) Flour tortillas can be covered and kept in a container for a few days.
2) Tortillas can also be made with whole wheat. Flour tortillas, when made into quesadillas are more crispier than whole wheat tortillas.

1.5  CupsMaida
0.25  CupCornflour
1  PinchBaking powder
0.5  Tsp.Salt
1  Tsp.Salt to taste
2  Tbsp.Butter softened
0.5  CupWarm water

Method

1) Blend flour salt and butter till it is crumbly.
2) Then slowly add warm water and knead to form a soft dough. Add water only little by little.
3) Keep dough covered in a container for 30 minutes.
4) Remove the dough and divide into 8 portions. Roll each portion into a round thin shape.
5) Heat a pan. Place tortilla on the pan and cook on each side for about 1 to 2 minutes. If it puffs up, poke holes in the puffed area to release steam.
6) Further cooking is done before making Quesadillas, Chimichangas, Fajitas, Burritos etc.

Use to make Nachos , Qusadillas etc.
