Description

1)) Gherkins are baby cucumbers. It looks like Ivy gourd . They are usually pickled with vinegar or brine , but sometimes they are available in sweet solution.
2) Tabasco sauce is the brand name for a red chilli sauce. Tabasco sauce is made from tabasco peppers , vinegar, and salt, and aged in white oak barrels for three years. It has a hot, spicy flavor.
3) Mayonnaise, often abbreviated as mayo,is a thick, creamy sauce. It originated in Spain. It is an emulsion of oil, egg yolk and either vinegar or lemon juice. Mayonnaise varies in color but is often white, cream, or pale yellow. It may range in texture from that of light cream to thick. In countries influenced by French culture, mustard is also a common ingredient. In Spain and Italy, olive oil is used as the oil and mustard is never included. Numerous other sauces can be created from it with addition of various herbs, spices, and finely chopped pickles.
4) Tuna is a saltwater fish. Tuna is a good source of omega-3 fatty acids. Tuna is available fresh, but the most common forms are tinned tuna in oil or brine solution.

Note

1) If gherkins are not available, finely chopped cucumber can be used.
2) Tinned tuna can be substituted with boiled fish. Any fleshy fish (without bones) can be used. Tuna has high levels of omega 3 essential fatty acids.
3) In the traditional method of making mayonnaise, raw egg yolks are used. So it is not advisable for pregnant women & infants below 1 year.

Method

1) Put tuna into a bowl with mayonnaise and mash with fork till you get a paste-like consistency.
2) Add gherkins and Tabasco.
3) Place a lettuce leaf on one slice. Spread a large dollop of tuna paste on lettuce. Cover with another slice of bread.
4) Cut off the edges from bread, if desired.
5) Cut sandwich into two diagonally. Serve chilled.
