Description

Chaas also called Mattha in North India, is a salty lassi. It is made out of yogurt , which is blended in a pot with a whipper. The butter which comes on top is taken out.The remaining liquid which is left is known as chhaas or buttermilk.
Black salt, is a type of rock salt with pungent smell. This salt is composed largely of sodium chloride with several impurities giving the salt its colour and smell. The smell is mainly due to its sulfur content.

Ayurvedic Note

1) Vata kapha reducing.
2) Improves appetite.
3) Helps in opening channels (improves circulation).
4) Reduces obesity.
5) Helps in reducing diabates.
Note:-
1) Reduce the qty. of green chillies if taking as medicine.

Note

1) Usually chaas is had in tall glasses, which can hold upto 2 cups of water.

  Servings 

Method

1) Grind chilly and ginger together.
2) Whisk buttermilk in a blender till its frothy.
3) Add chilli-ginger mix, cumin powder and black salt and mix thoroughly. Serve.

Serving Suggestions

Serve chilled. Chopped mint or corriander leaves can also be added.
