1) Boil crab with enough water and salt. It should be boiled till crab turns pink. Remove them immediately to cold water. This will make the flesh firm.
2) When cool, crack the shells and shred meat. Make stock by boiling 4 cups water and crab meat till it is reduced to half and keep aside.
3) Saute ginger, garlic and celery in butter till slightly transparent.
4) Pour stock with crab meat and bring to a boil.
5) Break egg and beat lightly. Add egg into the soup from a height in thread consistency, while still stirring the soup with a fork.
6) Pour cornflour mixed in half cup of water,while stirring continuously on a low flame.Allow to boil.
7) Remove and serve hot .
