Coleslaw is a salad consisting mainly of finely-shredded raw cabbage with a dressing of mayonnaise. There are many variations of this recipe. Coleslaw is generally eaten as an accompaniment. Coleslaw with cooked ham and julienned bell pepper is made in in Italy and is called "Insalata Capricciosa". Cream, sour cream, or buttermilk are also used instead of mayonnaise.
1. Add salt only just before serving and also only if necessary.
2. Mayonnaise contains raw egg yolk. Not recommended for pregnant women and infants.

1) Shred cabbage and carrot.
2) Add sliced onion. To this add salt (1/2 tsp.) and keep aside for 15 mts. immersed in ice cold water. Then squeeze out water from vegetables using a kitchen towel.
3) Make dressing with all the dressing ingredients.
4)Toss with cabbage carrot mix.
5) Serve chilled.
Coleslaw is generally eaten as a side dish with fried chicken, barbecued meat or French fries. It also may be used in sandwiches, hamburgers, and hot dogs.
