Jackfruit is known as kathal in hindi. This kebab is famous in Indore, Madhya pradesh. Jackfruit is considered as vegetarians meat. Jackfruit can be had in both raw and ripe forms. A good source of dietary fibre.
1) Kebabs can be fried in oil also. But ghee gives a good flavor.

1) Soak bengal gram dal in hot water for about 30 minutes.
2) Cut jackfruit into small pieces. Cook bengal gram dal with in a pressure cooker with about 3 tbsp. of water. for 1 whistle.
3) Steam jackfruit itill just cooked. dont let it be mushy.
4) Grind bengal gram to a coarse paste.
5) Dry roast all the masala ingredients till fragrant, for less than a minute. Powder this coarsely when cool.
6) Saute onion, ginger and garlic till onion is soft and light brown.
Grind jackfruit to a paste, add masala powder, onion, salt to taste , ground bengal gram dal and corriander leaves chopped.
7) Take small balls of the mixture. Flatten to form roundels.
8) Heat ghee in a pan. Shallow fry kebabs on both sides till golden brown.
Serve with green chutney.
